equestrian medical
safety association
Formerly AMEA/SRF
For many years, the EMSA has provided education, research and resources to protect riders and improve safety within equestrian sports. The SRF was formed to provide a network of assistance to injured riders. In 2003, the two groups merged to form an organization that primarily works to prevent equestrian accidents, but are able to assist riders when an injury has occurred.
The EMSA is seeking not only members, but persons willing to help provide a network within every equestrian discipline to communicate the message of safety to all riders and assist with obtaining donations, grant money and recognition at events and shows. Also, medical professionals who are willing to assist with research and provide a network of information are encouraged to assist.
First, please join the EMSA. Members are entitled to news 3 times a year & as of summer 09 will be paperless. Secondly, encourage others to join. The larger and more diverse our membership becomes offers us the opportunity to network and assist. Thirdly, help us define who needs our help and assistance. Without knowing who needs our help, we are unable to complete our mission. The EMSA is easy to contact either by e-mail or telephone. Finally, help us seek sources of funding. To be able to assist, financial resources are most important. The EMSA receives no funding from any equestrian organization. Our funding is totally supported by membership dues and private donations.
